Overview
Pokémon Waves and Pokémon Winds is being
developed only for the Nintendo Switch 2. These will be the tenth generation
games in the series. The games will release worldwide in 2027.
The games
take place across a chain of tropical islands inspired by Southeast Asia,
featuring beaches, cliffs, jungles, mangroves, and even underwater exploration,
which is highlighted as a first for the series. The reveal trailer showcases a
wide-open world with varied biomes, from windmill‑covered highlands to lava
caves and sapphire-blue oceans, emphasizing a more vertical and environmentally
diverse region than past generations.
The three new starter Pokémon—Browt
(Grass-type), Pombon (Fire-type), and Gecqua (Water-type) were introduced during
the Pokémon Day 2026 presentation, marking the first official look at Gen 10’s
roster. These games were unveiled as part of the franchise’s 30th anniversary
celebration, confirming both their setting and their exclusive release on the
next-generation hardware.
