Hyrule Warriors was released on September 26, 2014 in North America and on September 19th and 20th in Europe and Australia, respectively.  It was released the previous month in Japan.  The game combines the world of Zelda with the powerful moves of Dynasty Warriors.  The game was developed by Team Ninja and Omega Force.  The game was produced by Koei Tecmo in Japan and by Nintendo in North America and Europe.

The balance of the Triforce has been disrupted and is being torn apart by Sorceress Cia.  Players will battle in iconic areas like Hyrule Field and Palace of Twilight.  Players will collect Rupees to upgrade weapons, craft badges, as well as upgrade lower ranked characters.  To upgrade weapons or badges, players will have to collect materials by defeating certain enemies and bosses.

Several characters from the Legend of Zelda series are playable.  These characters include Princess Zelda, Impa, Midna, Ganondorf, Cia, Wizro and Link.  The game feature classic enemies as well as new enemies that were introduced in the series for the first time.

Players who pre-ordered the game from select retailers received additional costumes for Link and Zelda.  Different retailers had different costumes.  Nintendo will be releasing all the costumes in the future.  Nintendo is releasing four DLC packs for the game.  The first one was released in October 2014.  The DLC pack included Epona as a weapon for Link, a new scenario, and a new adventure mode map.  The second DLC pack was released in November 2014 and included new characters.  The third DLC pack will focus on Majora's Mask and include Toon Link and Tingle as playable characters.  This one was released on February 5, 2015.  The last DLC pack has been released.

Two players are able to play at the same time.  One player uses the Gamepad while the other one uses another controller and the TV.  One player can either play on just the GamePad using Off-TV Mode or on the TV.

The come received general positive reviews.  Some criticized the repetition of the fighting formula and the missions were too basic.  The game has been selling better in North America and Europe then Japan.  The game has sold approximately 500,000 units as of October 29, 2014.

The game is compatible with amiibo.  Scanning the "Link" or "Toon Link" amiibo will unlock the spinner as a weapon for Link.  Scanning other amiibo characters will unlock materials or rupees.  The game is compatible with all amiibo characters including Zelda and Sheik.
