Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an enhanced remake of the Wii U title for the Nintendo Switch.  The game was released on April 28, 2017.  The game was developed and published by Nintendo.

     The Switch version features new racers.  One of the major new additions is the addition of Urchin Underpass from Splatoon and the Inklings as racers.  Other courses are based on Luigi's Manson from the GameCube and SNES Battle Course 1.  All the characters and tracks from the Wii U version and its DLC are included in the game at no extra cost.

     The game can be played with 8 Switch consoles connected in Local Mode.  Up to four players can play when the Switch console is in docked mode and play on the TV.  Online multiplayer is also available.  Many items are returning such as Boo and the Feather.  Players can now carry two items at the same time.  This feature wasn't available in Mario Kart 8.

 

     On February 9, 2022, Nintendo announced that paid DLC would be coming Mario Kart 8 Deluxe,  There will be 48 remasted courses.  Each of the six DLC waves will coutain eight courses.The Booster Course Pack will retail for $24.99,  It can also be obtained by having a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.  The first wave will be available March 18, 2022 and will completely roll out by the end of 2023.

 

     The game became the fastest selling Mario Kart game selling 1.2 million copies in just 3 days.  The game has currently sold nearly 4.5 million copies worldwide.
