Super Mario Maker 2 was released on June 28, 2019.  The game was developed and published by Nintendo.

     The game is an enhanced sequel of the original.  Additional elements were added into course development.  Stages and elements from Super Mario 3D World were added.  A story mode was added into the game that featured over 100 stages.

     Four players can play the stages created on the Switch or by downloading the stage from Course World.  A Nintendo Online membership is required to upload or download stages.

     The game received an update on December 5, 2019.  This update added the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda series.  This new power up transforms Mario into Link.  After transforming, a new moveset becomes available including the ability to use bombs and arrows.

     The game received favorable reviews.  The game’s biggest critiscm at the game's release was the online multiplayer lag.  As of December 2019, the game has sold over 5 million copies.
