Metroid Dread is a 2D side-scrolling game for the Nintendo Switch.
The game was released on October 8, 2021. The game was developed by
MecurySteam and Nintendo and published by Nintendo.
The game takes place after the events of 2002’s Metroid Fusion. The game was originally an idea for the Nintendo DS but was canceled due to the console’s limitations. Nintendo announced the game during E3 2021.
Players control Samus Aran as she explores the planet ZDR. The game retains the side-scrolling gameplay of previous Metroid games. New gameplay elements include sealth elements so she can avoid EMMI robots. She accomplishes this by hiding and using the Phantom Cloak.
