Splatoon 2 was released for the Nintendo Switch. The game was developed and published by Nintendo. The game was released on June 16, 2017.

     Splatoon 2 features new stages, new weapons, and new ways to play.  New weapons include the Splat Dualies. Inklings are able to take to the sky to splatter paint. Two years have passed in the Splatoon game world so therefore new characters will appear in the sequel.

     Players are able to play local with up to 8 Switch consoles connected.  Online Multiplayer also returns to the game. A smart-phone app enhances matchmaking and allows for voice chat.

     Nintendo has added several updates to the game after the game's launch.  New stages and weapons will continue to be added and several maps from the original game have been added in with new changes.

     During E3 2018, Nintendo released Octo Expansion paid DLC for Splatoon 2.  Players take on the role of an Octoling in a new single player adventure.  There are over 80 different stages to explore.  Additional gear can be unlocked while playing Octo Expansion. The DLC retails for $19.99.

     The game received favorable reviews.  It was praised for its expanded single player campaign.  The game has sold nearly 4 million copies since its release.
